This year, ASCD launched a new initiative for mid-to-late career leaders in education: the ASCD Champions in Education program. Program participants are working on designing an impact plan to help transform education during this time of societal change. Attendees will hear about the work these inspiring leaders are doing to manage systems and staff and realize the vision of the next iteration of education. Presenters will be publishing their work in the summer issue of Educational Leadership.

Grateful for the opportunity to spend a week in Israel with an amazing group of AASA school superintendents. The historic significance of the trip was not lost on us. We were able to meet with the mayor of Tel Aviv, the Tel Aviv Director of Education, the Mayor of Isfiya Druze Village, and the Director of the US Consulates Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
However, the most moving part of the trip for me was meeting and talking to the young people of the country. From students at HaKfar HaYarok Youth Village to the children at Save a Child's Heart, and the young people celebrating Iftar in Old Jerusalem, I was humbled, moved, and inspired by their spirit. ❤️ #StudentVoice ☮️
Save a Child’s Heart (SACH), an Israeli-based international humanitarian project, whose mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease, and to create centers of competence in those countries.
"In the days of the Great Revolt, the last of the rebels against Rome entrenched themselves at Masada and turned their desperate fight into a symbol of the struggle for freedom. Because of the enthralling historic events that took place on the mountain, and the archaeological finds that have been revealed there, UNESCO has declared Masada National Park a World Heritage Site."

I was honored and privileged to be one of seven people, out of 4,000 entries, to be selected to appear in this commercial. This achievement and my commitment to life-long learning is not only meant to inspire my son - I also share and celebrate this major accomplishment with all the students and teachers I have worked with over my 20+ years in education. Our educational journey is not defined by timelines, it is absolutely a marathon in which we each run our own individual race. #CarpeDiem
