I am proud to contribute to Roadmap 2031: Education Transformed, an educator-driven collection created by practitioners who understand that meaningful transformation must be informed by those doing the work every day.
The project grew from national conversations among educators about the future of public education and the actions needed to prepare our students and profession for what comes next.
My contribution, “Learners at the Center,” reflects a principle that has guided my work throughout my career: every decision we make in education must begin and end with students.
Putting learners at the center requires us to listen to their voices, understand their needs, remove barriers to opportunity, and create learning environments where every child is challenged, supported, valued, and prepared to thrive.
I am honored to add my voice and experience to Roadmap 2031 alongside educators committed to moving beyond conversations about what education could be and toward the collective work of transforming what it will be.
The future of education begins with the learner at the center.

Meet Isfiya's Druze Mayor
Grateful for the opportunity to spend a week in Israel with an amazing group of AASA school superintendents. The historic significance of the trip was not lost on us. We were able to meet with the mayor of Tel Aviv, the Tel Aviv Director of Education, the Mayor of Isfiya Druze Village, and the Director of the US Consulates Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
However, the most moving part of the trip for me was meeting and talking to the young people of the country. From students at HaKfar HaYarok Youth Village to the children at Save a Child's Heart, and the young people celebrating Iftar in Old Jerusalem, I was humbled, moved, and inspired by their spirit. ❤️ #StudentVoice ☮️
